Observer Notes:Gillingham and a friend were believed to be high-marking. When the slide released the friend’s machine was stuck and out of the way, so only one person was caught. Neither carried rescue gear. The friend searched for awhile and eventually was able to catch the attention of nearby riders. They send one to call for help and started searching. The sheriff was notified and Gillingham was found before the organized rescuers arrived. He was buried 4 feet deep. Exact location not confirmed.
